Where the Idea came from...
Heading 5
The name “Aim For The Highest” comes from the English translation of the Latin phrase “Summa Petenda” which happened to be the motto of my high school in Scotland. One of my Old Testament biblical heroes, who lived out the idea of "Aim For The Highest", is the man called Caleb. He was one of the 12 spies sent by Moses into Canaan to spy out the land before the Children of Israel were to enter. He, along with Joshua, were the only “spies” to come back with a positive report. (Numbers 13:30). Forty years later, after Israel had taken possession of the land, Caleb was now 85 years old. As the land was being divided up, Caleb wasn’t willing to settle for quiet, green pastures where he could live out the rest of his life in peace and tranquility. He asked to be given the mountainous region where giants still lived. Even in his old age, his strength and passion to be involved in the fight had not left him. (Joshua 14: 9-13). As I look back at my life I have been blessed with wonderful opportunities and experiences in both the church and corporate world. My passion is to be able to share what I have learned (both positive and negative) with as wide an audience as possible through different forms of media. I’m not close to Caleb’s age but, like him, I still have “mountains” to climb and “giants” to conquer. I launched AIM FOR THE HIGHEST to encourage individual Christians, churches, church leadership groups, and Christian business leaders to be like Caleb...not to settle for mediocrity but to keep on climbing and conquering!
